Beware increased fee legislation will be on the table during the next session.

The Commission to fix F&G budget woes listed several fixes; not a one of them will accomplish anything other than increased hunting/fishing license fees and increasing the amount of registration money from OHRV/Snowmobiles.

So with the State budget looking at a deep hole... beware.

The Commission's report is on the F&G site.

Seems F&G will be in the hole about $3 million come the next cycle (begins July of 2015); and is grasping for solutions.

I think most have heard of the genius idea of a $10 sticker for canoes and kayaks - but no one on the commission questioned which department is most responsible for canoes and kayaks (DoS - Marine Patrol).

Then they had the genius idea of a hike rescue card; because no one was paying for their rescue, and we couldn't get them to through court. (So why would I purchase insurance against something that I would never pay for anyways?).

That left expansion to 'Other groups' (good luck getting a horse or bicycle registration for any off-road use); and those that already pay.

I did laugh on their acknowledgement that NH needs to compete against Maine/Vermont for Out-of-State registrations, and didn't have to for In-State registrations.

That would make Maine snowmobile $89 total, against NH's $84 and have to join the Association and club. Of course, they could raise In-State snowmobile to $84, if they drop the club/association statutes.

Other than that the money would need to come out of the GIA funding.

OHRV have even a more unusual situation. For ATV/Other, we already charge more than Maine for an Out-of-State registration - so that would have to go down. While the In-State, ATV/Other and both Motorcycle registrations will be under fire.

Rabid,

NH Fish & Game has also announced that they are now offering Safety Classes on line at a cost of $29.50, traditional classes were free.

I guess GC and I have been replaced by a computer

Shocked Very Happy Very Happy

Pretty soon they won't need anyone's services...
They will be dissolved and become part of the DoS.
